Nothing says classy like furniture and appliances that can be both operational and out of the way. In today’s times, we are bombarded with new technology that is getting smaller, sleeker, and can do more. We want the technology, but we also demand that it be almost invisible in our own homes. We want it to look classy. We don’t it to be in the way. If we can find something like that, no matter what it is, 9 times out of 10 we will buy it. One of the biggest cases this is for are projectors. When purchasing one, it can normally put quite the hole in your wallet. This,  simply due to the cost of the machine and the possible set up and home renovation fees should you decide to run the wiring through the walls.

Well in case you missed CES, Philips has brought out a competitor for Sony’s UltraShort-Throw and Ultra-pricey new 4K projector

Sony’s model comes in at a whopping $30,000 for the cheap version! Philips plans to deliver the same quality at a much lower cost.

The new Philips Screeneo HDP1590 UltraShort-Throw projector plans to give Sony’s model a run for its money, simply due to it’s lower price ranger.

In case you are not familiar with what an UltraShort-Throw projector can do, imagine this; Having everything you could want with your projector without having to tear down your walls. These projectors can literally be placed out of the way against any way big enough for the display, and then project the image directly onto the wall above it. This virtually eliminates any need for home renovations and wiring problems, which can be a HUGE money saver.

By adjusting the distance between the wall and the projector, you can get a range of image sizing anywhere from 50 to 100 inches. This particular projector is also the first of its kind to actually use LED instead of typical methods. This will actually get rid of the need to ever change the bulb. The projector displays in 720p standard, so it is HD but definitely not the highest end out there. It also comes standard with SD card slots, Wi-Fi, USB, Bluetooth, as well as HDMI naturally. Since it comes with these type of Wi-Fi capabilities, you will be able to search your favorite internet cat videos on here along with hooking it up to nearly any device that you could think of. The projector is running on Android OS and includes Miracast which means that you will be able to stream movies and videos directly from any of your multimedia devices.

This particular projector is dangerous to Sony for one main reason; It’s price. The new Philips Screeneo will set you back a mere $1,799. In comparison to Sony’s 4K UltraShort-Throw projector’s $30,000 to $40,000 price tag, the Philips Screeneo costs pennies. With that being said, the saying is true that you get what you pay for. While you are still getting the same UltraShort-Throw capabilities as the Sony 4K projector, The Philips Screeneo only boasts 720p. All in all, it could still easily give Sony and everyone else to look out for when it drops in April.
