What Will Projectors Be Like In The Future?

178800526 (2)Technology slows down for no man, and it shouldn’t. We are developing new ideas and concepts at such an alarming rate that it would be almost idiotic for it to slow down for society. Society moves fast anyway, so it would make sense for the advancements in our tech to move at the same speed. We’ve seen the tablets, the smartphones, the computers, and the smartwatches. What about the projectors? What about the projectors that are going to be available for recreational use, and not just for office meetings? There is a lot changing and developing with the new projector technology. Whether it be 4K, short throw, holograms, interactive, or even higher functioning pico and portable projectors, we have a lot to look forward to with the new technology.

While we know that the projectors are looking towards the future, it does make one wonder, “what is the next step for projectors to push for?”

There are plenty of avenues open for projectors right now. They have a plethora of different realms that they can put more focus and funding towards. Though, just because you can spend money on something doesn’t mean that you should. Instead, developers should be focusing on what is going to generate the most revenue now so that they can put profits towards funding for the other ideals. If mobile projectors are going to bring in the most money right now, then that is where more funding should be going. Mind you though, there is a reason why I said mobile projectors.

Lets think for a second about the technology that we use every day. We use our laptops, smartphones, and tablets. These all fall into the category of mobile technology. Shouldn’t it only make sense that we bring the same idea towards the development of new projectors? Yes, 4K is nice, if you have a big enough screen for it (and the pockets for it). Holograms and Interactive projectors are always fun and entertaining, but also very costly to create and can be unresponsive. Short Throw projectors are good for a STRICTLY entertainment-only projector that is designated to be stationary. The more mobile projectors are where I feel there could be a lot more promise for companies.

With the use of the mobile projectors, you’ve entered the realm of other mobile technology that is on such a mass market area, it could bring in quite a profit. I never thought that tablets would catch on, but I was dead wrong. I know that mobile projectors could have the same type of effect. There are even some smartphones out there that are including projectors in them. This is where I see promise. This is where I can see the future happening. We have the incredible displays on our smartphones and tablets. Why not make the picture large enough for everyone to see? We have cameras on the backs of our devices. Why not add a projector? This can pave the way for pico projectors to be a more dominant version of projectors on the market as well. The idea is being mobile. We are always moving as a society, so why not add it to literally every tech device we have?

Almost everything tech related that we use is mobile today. Our game systems, our computers, and our phones, are all now basically one in the same. All inclusive in one device or more. I can only see this being the case for projectors in the near future. It would only make sense. Projectors are going to move and become more mobile with us, just like every other technology. It’s only a matter of time before we seem them available for purchase and rental on the mass market.

Should Pico Projectors Be Coupled With Other Devices, Like Smartphones?

Thursday, April 10th, 2014

There have been a few items that we have seen recently that have been coupled together. Some devices can make this work out in their favor. Take for example the smartphone. The smartphone is basically a PDA with phone call and texting capabilities. The smartphone even took over the MP3 player by adding the same functionalities as the other device. So many things have been added onto the features of a smartphone, so many different applications and functions, that it now seems like they are just mini computers. They basically do everything your laptop does. I mean, there are different applications that have come up on the mobile app store, providing versions of their software (like Garageband for example) for direct mobile use. Now what about projectors though?

A projector is a bit different that an MP3 player or a Game Boy. It’s not as compact, normally, and tends to offer a function that can’t really be coupled with other tech devices. The biggest reason being the action of image projection. Some people use projectors for their entertainment systems, and this is where they really shine. Trust me, if the Game Boy or PSP was able to project their images on the wall, a lot more people (yours truly included) would have paid pretty handsomely to own one. But here in lies the issue. When you put two devices together, especially if one of those devices happens to be a projector, you arent able to fully focus on each devices’ separate functions and quality while maintaining a small size. We love our technology small, and that’s exactly why the pico projector came along. The pico projector by itself offers exactly what you may need for a short presentation or even a college dorm movie party. You’re smartphone offers you access to basically anything you need as long as you have a phone plan and an internet connection.

Putting the two together does come with some pretty noticeable benefits. In that same thought process, there are some drawbacks. Take the Ayane pico projector smartphone. Yes, a smartphone with a pico projector built into it. All in all, not a bad idea. The only issue being that with the size of a typical smartphone, Ayane has a certain standard to adhere to. While, yes, there are a few brands like Samsung that put out larger phones, the typical size you are going have is about 5 inches or so. Since this is the market standard, Ayane has to put all of the components and features that make a smartphone a smartphone, while still finding a way to keep the pico projector it packed inside up to standards.

The phone itself isn’t anything fantastic by any means. With only a 2000mAh battery, 4GB of internal storage, 1GB of RAM, and a 1.2GHz duel-core processor, you’re getting literally the basics in terms of what we consider a high quality smartphone. The pico projector does offer a 42 inch display when thrown on the wall. It offers a 480p resolution and 1,000:1 contrast ratio. Definitely not the BEST picture, but for packing that into a smartphone, it definitely gets the job done. But again, this is why some devices might not be suited to be spliced together. Sacrifices will have to be made on both devices, and the quality may suffer in comparison to the industry standards of the modern world.

If you are in need of something that gets the job done, it may not be the worst investment. However, should you want to get the job done with a bit more quality, renting your pico projector may be a better choice.
