ThinkstockPhotos-187093586When it comes to projectors, finding the right one can be a taxing situation. There are a lot of factors to consider, like lumen output, portability, projection distance, image projection size, connectivity, etc… Thankfully you have people like us who make nifty lists like this one that informs you about the current projectors sitting at the top of the market. You’re welcome.

ViewSonic PLED-W800

This is one of the least expensive ViewSonic projectors that still performs like a champion. The smaller price tag is probably mostly due t how small it is, but this means that it is super portable. it weighs just short of 2 pounds, and it is 13.1 x 10.4 x 4.3 inches. You can take it with you to all of your business meetings or events with little to no hassle. The lamp can reach up to 800 lumens. As long as you can control the lighting a little bit, you can use this projector in any room you want for any reason. It has an SD slot, an HDMI input, a USB slot, and a VGA output for laptops. You can connect just about anything to it that you could think of.

This is an great choice for presenting documents from Word, Excel, and Powerpoint presentations directly from a USB flash drive. It can also play video of course, but that isn’t a strong point. Either way, for the money, it’s really hard to beat. Especially with the portability.

Epson EB-X11

ThinkstockPhotos-487439985This is another super portable projector that is great at doing just about everything. It’s also a little cheaper than the ViewSonic PLED-W800, and if you shop around a little bit you can get it for a steal. It has a ton of amazing features, which is why it made it on the list. It measures 11.6 x 11.9 x3.0 inches and weighs about 5 pounds. So like the Viewsonic model, you can easily take the EB-X11 from place to place and take care of business anywhere you need to. One cool feature is the lens cap that automatically shuts off the lamp and the speakers when it is put on. The lamp has a really high brightness for this type of projector, with a rating of 2600 lumens. It does have USB slot, but for some reason you can only view photos with it and not videos. Other than that, this is a really great projector and the brightness and size make up for it’s little flaws. And even the flaws are pretty easy to get around.

Sony VPL-FHZ55

This model isn’t very portable at all, but that isn’t what it was made for. It weighs about 26 and a half pounds, so you probably wouldn’t want to move it anyway. It measures 15.3 x 19.8 x 5.8 inches. This model is also the first 3LCD projector, but the projection chip it uses was made popular by other companies. It does not use a lamp at all but instead uses a blue laser light source. This is very convenient, but we all know you pay a price for convenience. This bad boy is going to cost you an arm and a leg. It goes for about $11 grand if you’re planning on buying as opposed to renting. It has a brightness of 4,000 lumens and can last for up to 20,000 hours. This means you don’t have to change lamps as often. It also has a full set of BNC/component inputs, an RGB D-sub 15-pin slot, DV-D, monitor output and an HDMI input. On the other side of the projector it also has S-video, composite video, lots of analog audio ins and outs, an RS-232C control jack, the DC inlet, and wired LAN. With all of those features you would think that it would have built in Wi-Fi, but sadly it does not. This is a small price to pay for all of the other crazy features though.

Sony Has A More Portable Version Of Their New Short Throw 4K Projector

Sunday, September 7th, 2014

sony ultra short throwWho doesn’t love a good movie or a good TV show? It’s always more enjoyable when you can view your movies or TV shows in pristine visual resolution. In case you’ve been living under a rock, there are new resolution rates that making watching movies or TV shows look like you’re at the movies, or even in the movies. For the longest time we’ve had the 720p and 1080p resolution rates as the standards at which we view our programs. Now we have 4K resolution, and it definitely looks remarkable. The only thing is that maybe you want to watch your programming on something other than your TV. This is where a 4K projector would come into play. The only problem is that Sony’s newest one,  shown off at CES earlier this year, is big and costs about as much as it looks like it would cost.

Luckily for us, they have developed a portable version of their new 4K Ultra Short Throw projector.

It’s Tiny

The newest 4K ultra short throw projector from Sony was shown off at CES 2014, and it looks incredible. The picture quality looks remarkable as well. The only setback, aside from the $50,000 price tag, is the fact that it’s very, very large. The projector itself looks like a very wide TV stand. Well Sony’s portable version is quite a bit smaller. The portable version of the 4K ultra short throw projector is roughly about the size of a box of Kleenex. It’s definitely a lot smaller than its predecessor, and to be honest, that makes it much more interesting to me personally. The features that it includes also give you a reason to look at it, and consider investing in it.

It’s Interactive

146920478That’s right. You can directly interact with the images that this projector displays. The projector itself beams a 23-inch image of whatever it is you’re viewing at the moment. It expands on something that was already looking really good with the larger version, as all of the images are still being displayed in stunning 4K resolution. These 4K images are also very interactive as you can stick it to your refrigerator door and have it display pictures or reminders that you can then move about with your finger. It can also connect wirelessly to your phone so that you can show photos directly from your phone and have the projector beam them out immediately. The interactive mode means that you can move the photos, or if you’re reading an article, magazine, or cooking recipe, you can “move” the pages as you need to.

So Why Get It?

It’s a lot smaller than the larger model that was shown off at the CES event earlier this year. It’s extremely portable, and it seems that portable projectors are getting more and more popular. This particular projector is also waterproof, so if you feel like watching a movie while relaxing in the tub, you can totally do that. It’s all really up to you once you invest in this projector. The 23-inch display isn’t a bad screen size considering the size of the actual device. No price has been given on the new portable version of this projector, but something tells me that it won’t be in the $50,000 range like its larger counterpart. It could definitely be a good investment for recreational purposes, or even for smaller business meetings where you want to make things a bit more interactive.

No matter which way you look at it, 4K is still doing everything it can to make sure it shows up in your life somehow. If you’re looking for a projector, why not get a portable one, especially one that’s short throw in 4K. Sony just might be onto something here.

Sony’s New Projector Turns Walls Into 4K Displays

Thursday, February 27th, 2014

One of the newest and most impressive additions to Sony’s line of projectors in the new 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector, which is able to turn any wall in your office or home into an incredible 4K display. This projector is part of Sony’s new Life Space UX line. One of the most convenient features it has, which also separates it from the rest of the projectors on the market, is that it is made to be placed directly next to the wall that it will be projecting onto. That way, it won’t take up any awkward space in the middle of the room and will come off as more of a decoration piece, or maybe an air filter… or something.

The projector uses a laser light source to project a screen size of up to 147 inches. The actual unit will measure 43.3″ x 10.4″ x 21.1″. It comes equipped with 4 HDMI ports so that you can connect just about anything you could even think of. It’s a little bit on the big side, but it has a lot of nice features, and with it being such a short throw projector, it doesn’t really matter that much what it looks like. It also eliminates the need for any other type of display in the room, resulting in a more modern, organized and professional look overall.

The new, super futuristic, super short throw projector is going to be released this summer. The cost of owning one is going to be through the roof, a whopping $40,000.

A Short-Throw Projector That Won’t Kill Your Wallet!

Friday, January 31st, 2014

Nothing says classy like furniture and appliances that can be both operational and out of the way. In today’s times, we are bombarded with new technology that is getting smaller, sleeker, and can do more. We want the technology, but we also demand that it be almost invisible in our own homes. We want it to look classy. We don’t it to be in the way. If we can find something like that, no matter what it is, 9 times out of 10 we will buy it. One of the biggest cases this is for are projectors. When purchasing one, it can normally put quite the hole in your wallet. This,  simply due to the cost of the machine and the possible set up and home renovation fees should you decide to run the wiring through the walls. However, with innovations like kellerman heating, you can enjoy both comfort and style in your home.

Well in case you missed CES, Philips has brought out a competitor for Sony’s UltraShort-Throw and Ultra-pricey new 4K projector

Sony’s model comes in at a whopping $30,000 for the cheap version! Philips plans to deliver the same quality at a much lower cost.

The new Philips Screeneo HDP1590 UltraShort-Throw projector plans to give Sony’s model a run for its money, simply due to it’s lower price ranger.

In case you are not familiar with what an UltraShort-Throw projector can do, imagine this; Having everything you could want with your projector without having to tear down your walls. These projectors can literally be placed out of the way against any way big enough for the display, and then project the image directly onto the wall above it. This virtually eliminates any need for home renovations and wiring problems, which can be a HUGE money saver.

By adjusting the distance between the wall and the projector, you can get a range of image sizing anywhere from 50 to 100 inches. This particular projector is also the first of its kind to actually use LED instead of typical methods. This will actually get rid of the need to ever change the bulb. The projector displays in 720p standard, so it is HD but definitely not the highest end out there. It also comes standard with SD card slots, Wi-Fi, USB, Bluetooth, as well as HDMI naturally. Since it comes with these type of Wi-Fi capabilities, you will be able to search your favorite internet cat videos on here along with hooking it up to nearly any device that you could think of. The projector is running on Android OS and includes Miracast which means that you will be able to stream movies and videos directly from any of your multimedia devices.

This particular projector is dangerous to Sony for one main reason; It’s price. The new Philips Screeneo will set you back a mere $1,799. In comparison to Sony’s 4K UltraShort-Throw projector’s $30,000 to $40,000 price tag, the Philips Screeneo costs pennies. With that being said, the saying is true that you get what you pay for. While you are still getting the same UltraShort-Throw capabilities as the Sony 4K projector, The Philips Screeneo only boasts 720p. All in all, it could still easily give Sony and everyone else to look out for when it drops in April.
